BBC bosses have said they hope Strictly Come Dancing contestant Jimmy Tarbuck will be able to take part in next week's show after having to withdraw from Saturday's episode due to health problems.
An article in the People today claimed that the 66-year-old comic had been taken to hospital during the week after doctors discovered a heart murmur reportedly brought on by the TV show's daunting training routines.
But a spokesperson told the BBC website: "He's hoping to be back next week performing the tango."
Host Bruce Forsyth told viewers on Saturday evening that golf enthusiast Jimmy was "feeling a bit poorly".
"I know he's watching so we'd all like to say get well soon mate and we'd all like to see you tangoing next week," he added.
A source had told the tabloid that Jimmy was a victim of his own determination.
"He was usually first in the dance studio and last to leave. Friends told him to take it easy - but Jimmy was desperate to get it right," the insider said.
The source added: "The amount of time, effort and energy he put into the show would put a strain on an Olympic athlete, let alone a man who is old enough to get his pensioner bus-pass."
Viewers last night saw new What Not to Wear host Mica Paris being told how not to dance and be booted off the show along with partner Ian Waite.
Strictly Come Dancing's return to the autumn schedules sees it resume its age-old ratings battle with ITV1 rival The X-Factor.
