Big Brother 9 contestant Rex Newmark has stressed how unhappy he is to have remained in the house.

The 24-year-old faced eviction on Friday night but was saved by the public for the second time, with Belinda Harris-Reid booted out.

The 44-year-old theatre director - whose snoring was a cause of irritation for several housemates - earned some 65 per cent of the public vote to be evicted after a fortnight on the Channel 4 reality show.

But despite retaining his place in the house, Rex told fellow contestants: "I'm not happy at all."

Mikey Hughes and Rachel Rice replied that they had not been aware of the extent of the chef's unhappiness in the house, while Kathreya Kasisopa impressed on Rex that the viewing public have the final say.

"I don't want to be here but I won't walk out either… this is not a luxury lifestyle," he replied.

When Rachel and Kathreya attempted to convince Rex that life in the house was not as bad as he is making out, he added: "My journey was over two weeks ago… there is nothing that I want here."

He later attempted to instigate an argument by calling Rachel "the most boring housemate".

Talking with Rachel, Kathreya and Rex in the living area, Dale Howard asked Rachel which contestants she believed would be the final five housemates.

When Rachel refused to comment, Rex called her "boring" and tried to entice the Welsh contestant into revealing if she is more opinionated on the outside world.

Rex then said Rachel's life must be "never really exciting or really boring, just average".
