Amanda Holden is in a stable condition after giving birth to her second child.

Her spokesman said the 40-year-old had been in a "critical condition" but was now stable and expected to make a full recovery soon.

The presenter and her husband Chris Hughes welcomed Hollie Rose, who has been described as being "healthy", on Monday (23rd January).

A statement issued on behalf of Holden and her partner thanked the media for respecting their privacy after she spent two nights in hospital, causing her to pull out of judging the latest round of Britain's Got Talent.

She had been due to join fellow judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams on the panel.

ITV has said it "can't confirm at this stage" when Holden will return to the show, or whether guest judges would be hired should she take an extended break.

Holden gave birth to her first child, Alexi Louise Florence Hughes, in January 2006.
