Alan Carr's Chatty Man has been named best talk show at the National TV Awards, beating Jonathan Ross and Graham Norton.

The winners were chosen by a viewers' vote, with Coronation Street taking the title of best soap and Downton Abbey beating Doctor Who to the best drama prize.

Doctor Who's Matt Smith and Karen Gillan took home acting awards, while Ant and Dec won the best entertainment presenter prize for the 11th year in a row.

Declan Donnelly said he and his long-time collaborator Anthony McPartlin were "so honoured to have got your votes for this".

The pair also picked up the trophy in the best reality programme, which was won by I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of here, beating The Only Way Is Essex, The Apprentice and Come Dine With Me.

Running since 1995, the National TV Awards is the most prominent award ceremony where winners are decided entirely by the public.
