Apple chief-executive Steve Jobs is recovering after undergoing a liver transplant, health officials have confirmed.
Dr James Eason, from the Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute in Memphis, said Mr Jobs was making good progress following the operation and had an "excellent prognosis".
He added the Apple CEO had agreed to allow the information to be made public.
The news comes just three days after the Wall Street Journal reported the 54-year-old underwent the transplant three months ago, although no confirmation was made.
On Tuesday, Apple spokesman Steve Dowling simply told CNN: "Steve continues to look forward to returning to Apple at the end of June, and there is nothing further to say."
In January the co-founder of Apple announced he would be stepping down as the company's CEO due to health reasons.
He announced then he was being treated for a hormone imbalance and admitted his health issues were more complex than originally thought.
The 54-year-old underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer in 2004 and the hormone imbalance has been suggested as the cause of his significant weight loss since.
