Singer Amy Winehouse has admitted assaulting a member of staff at a theatre during a pantomime performance in December.

The Back to Black star was charged with a section five public order offence and common assault at Milton Keynes police station before Christmas in connection with the incident at a Saturday evening performance of Cinderella.

Appearing at Milton Keynes magistrates' court on Wednesday, the 27-year-old pleaded guilty to both charges.

She has been ordered to pay £100 in compensation and £85 in costs, as well as being given a two-year conditional discharge.

She is said to have physically attacked Richard Pound, a front-of-house manager at the Milton Keynes theatre in Buckinghamshire, with subsequent reports claiming she punched and kicked Mr Pound.

The Grammy winner's behaviour during the performance had been widely reported in the days following the panto, with the Rehab singer said to have irritated other theatregoers by shouting: "He's f*****g behind you" during the performance and yelling: "F*** Cinders, Prince Charming, marry me".

Sentencing on Wednesday, district judge Peter Crabtree said: "Mr Pound is a person whose job involves interaction with the public. If he's assaulted he deserves the court's protection... In this case it's obvious that alcohol played its part."

In reference to the conditional discharge facet of the sentence, he added: "It may be harder than a fine because you have now got to stay on the straight and narrow for the next two years."
