In a nutshell...
A juicy little ray of sunshine.
What's it all about?
Fruit is the Asteroids Galaxy Tour's debut album just 18 months after forming. They have enjoyed a quick escalation to fame thanks from various endorsements including Amy Winehouse and Steve Jobs, Apple's chairman. The album resonates with soulful funk and psychedelic pop. Vintage equipment, kooky vocals and a horns section give this new release a dusty cosiness.

Who's it by?
The mastermind behind every aspect of this album and band is Lars Iversen. The other half of the duo is vocalist Mette Lindberg although the participation of the other musicians has transformed them into more of a collective of musicians than a duo. The others are: Miloud Carl Sabri (trumpet), Sven Meinild (sax), Mads Brinch Nielsen (guitar, keyboards), Jesper Elnegaard (drums). They hail from Copenhagen and have been touring around the world since 2008. You may have heard Around The Bend on the iPod Touch advert and their debut single The Sun Ain't Shining No More was released in September 2008.
As an example...
"Ain't got no joy no man to lean on/He leaves my soul on the floor like a doll." - The Sun Ain't Shining No More

Likelihood of a trip to the Grammys
Uncertain. At the moment I am not convinced of the longevity of this band despite their popularity at the moment.
What the others say
"But it's Mette Lindberg's voice that is TAGT's secret weapon. Well, not so secret - it's all over their music like Day-Glo graffiti, a weird, idiosyncratically powerful thing that manages to be simultaneously soulful and squeaky, like Clare Grogan or Cerys Matthews doing a comical impression of Amy Winehouse." - Guardian
"Try imaging Duffy fronting Le Tigre and making a Bond theme with production from Quincy Jones." - Clash Music
So is it any good?
I absolutely love their sound including Mette's voice. She sounds like a cross between Duffy, Nelly Furtado, Skye Edwards and a chipmunk - lik Marmite, you'll either love it or hate it. Each song is individually attractive and addictive and has the potential to be released as a single. However, as an album, the sound is quite linear and I wouldn't be able to listen to it all in one go. Live, their performance is energetic, and the quirks of the band distract from the common theme running between tracks.
Bad Fever is quickly becoming my favourite track although Hero and Push The Envelope also impress me. Every single song is inspiring in its own right and small doses of the album will make you appreciate the music more.
Each song is like a little kaleidoscope full of soul and adventure. You'll soon be humming along like you've known them for ages. Fruit is a perfect soundtrack for balmy summer evenings
