Lightspeed Champion, a mixture of David Gray and the groovier side of REM, may just have to live up to their name as they intend to play three gigs on the same night in London later this week.

The band's whirlwind evening takes place on Thursday October 18th and opens with a free show at the newly reopened Covent Garden branch of music store Fopp from 18:00 onwards.

After the gig, Lightspeed Champion's Dev Hynes will be on hand to meet fans and sign copies of new single Midnight Surprise, a haunting yet upbeat ballad, released on October 15th on download and as a special lavender-coloured 10-inch.

At 21:00, Lightspeed Champion will perform at a Tiscali Showcase featuring Catherine Feeny at the Soho Revue Bar.

Then the band dashes off to Fabric in Farringdon to play as part of Adventures In The Beetroot Field. They will perform in Room 2 alongside the likes of Envelopes, Untitled Musical Project, S**tdisco and Theoretical Girl. Lightspeed Champion's stage time is scheduled for 01:00.

Playing the trio of London shows is the just the start of a busy period for the band. On Friday October 19th they pitch up at Liverpool's Barfly supporting The Cribs in association with the MTV 2 Gonzo tour.

A solo appearance is lined up for Sunday October 21st at the Lock Tavern in London's Camden Town then Lightspeed Champion is heading to Brazil for two shows at the Tim Festival in Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo on October 26th and 27th.

On November 9th Lightspeed Champion play in Paris at Les Inrocks Festival before returning to the UK to support Good Shoes at the Birmingham Academy on Sunday November 11th.

Lightspeed Champion will then provide the support for Good Shoes throughout November, kicking off at the Manchester Academy on the 13th, Leeds Metropolitan University on the 14th, Glasgow Barrowlands on the 15th and Middlesbrough Empire on November 17th.

Lightspeed Champion say goodbye to Good Shoes and hello to supporting Patrick Wolf on Wednesday November 21st at the Saint George in Brighton.

Providing support for Patrick Wolf continues on November 22nd at the Phoenix in Exeter, the Trinity in Bristol on November 23rd and the Manchester Lowry on November 25th.

These dates are followed by four more gigs criss-crossing the UK supporting Patrick Wolf, starting at Leicester's Y Theatre on November 26th, Sheffield Memorial Home on the 27th, Glasgow's Oran Moor on the 29th and at Middlesbrough's MMA on November 30th.

Then it's a return to Sheffield on Thursday December 6th to headline Club NME at Plug in the south Yorkshire city.
