Shakira and Beyonce look to be coming out on top in the chart battle with Arctic Monkeys as Beautiful Liar goes up against Brianstorm.
The Monkeys are currently sitting in 11th place from downloads alone, but Beyonce and Shakira are in fifth place and look set to be crowned number one.
A spokesman for HMV said that it looked like the queens of pop would "rise up to be number one".
"It's looking fairly comfortable at the moment," he said of Beyonce and Shakira's lead.
Arctic Monkeys are battling it out for second with last week's number one single by Timbaland titled Give It to Me, which features Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake.
The spokesman suggested that Arctic Monkeys fans may be waiting until Monday, when their new album Favourite Worst Nightmare is released, to get hold of Brianstorm.
"If you're a fan of the band you'll probably want to hold off for that release," he said.
This week's chart positions will be announced on Sunday.
