Soul singer Seal and German supermodel Heidi Klum are to separate after seven years of marriage.
The couple described the separation as amicable in a statement, saying that they have "enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage".
Seal, 48, met Klum, 38, in 2004 when she was pregnant with her daughter Leni, now seven, from a previous relationship with Italian businessman and Formula One entrepreneur Flavio Briatore.
They married on a beach in Mexico in May 2005 and have four children, becoming famous for renewing their vows on every anniversary in a lavish ceremony.
However, they said of the split that they "have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart".
Rumours of the couple's separation had been among the gossip pages since Saturday (January 21st), with celebrity magazine TMZ claiming they had been preparing to file divorce papers.
