Keith Richards did not require a second operation on his skull in New Zealand and is not in as serious a condition as reports claim, it has been revealed.
A spokesperson for the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist released a statement after rumours surfaced yesterday suggesting the 62-year-old was severely ill in hospital.
The statement revealed that Richards' first operation to remove a section of fractured bone from his skull was "100 per cent successful".
"There was no brain damage and he continues to improve as expected," the statement added.
Richards originally suffered the injury two weeks ago after falling from a palm tree while holidaying in Fiji.
He was promptly flown to Auckland's Ascot hospital where he underwent scans and surgery before he being discharged.
The Rolling Stones are due to commence the European leg of their world tour in Barcelona later this month.
Whether Richards will be fit to feature on this tour is at this time uncertain.
