Their friendship may be back on but things could become competitive between Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton when Richie launches her singing career.
Hilton debuted her single Stars Are Blind to surprisingly positive reviews and Richie, the adopted daughter of 80s pop star Lionel, is hoping to receive similar success.
The pint-sized star says she has talked about her ambitions with her musical father.
"We talk about everything and he points me in the right direction. He told me to keep my head on straight," she said.
"My whole goal in life is to be a singer. I really feel I am just starting in life, there are so many chapters coming up."
The reality TV star and writer has also discussed her much-publicised weight issues with her dad.
Photos of the once-curvy star show her to be a shadow of her former self, sparking anorexia rumours for the past year.
"I've spoken to my dad about my weight as well. He was concerned when he started hearing all these crazy things, but I told him I feel fine," she told Top of the Pops magazine.
