Chris Moyles' outspoken humour and rapport with his breakfast team are bringing BBC Radio 1 more listeners than ever.
The self-proclaimed "saviour of Radio 1" attracted an average of 6.79 million listeners a week between March and June, figures from the Radio Joint Audience Research show.
A whopping 472,000 new listeners tuned in during the quarter, and a total of 534,000 switched to his show during the past year.
Ken Bruce also saw a record audience of 6.64 million for his mid-morning programme on Radio 2.
Overall, the BBC gained a total of 700,000 in the quarter.
Jenny Abramsky, director of BBC radio and music, said: "I'm delighted to see Radio 1's distinctive blend of music programming and innovative use of digital and interactive media attracting more young listeners."
The breakfast slot is notoriously hard to gain listeners for; Moyles' main rivals include Johnny Vaughn on London's Capital Radio and Jamie Theakston on Heart FM.
It's not all good news for the Beeb, however: Since taking over from Johnnie Walker on Radio 2's drivetime show Chris Evans has lost 150,000 listeners - with a total of 4.85 million people switching on.
