Singer Morrissey has called over more shows due to illness, just two days after marking his 50th birthday with a homecoming set in Manchester.

The former Smiths frontman has cancelled tonight's (May 25th) show at the Salisbury City Hall and Tuesday May 26th's concert at the Troxy Ballroom in Mile End, east London.

The singer-songwriter - this week labelled the "greatest lyricist of his generation" - has been warned not to sing by doctor's, a spokeswoman said.

"Morrissey is on doctor's orders to postpone the show, to ensure a complete recuperation," she explained.

"Event organisers would like to apologise to fans for the disappointment and are working to reschedule this show, so advise ticket holders to hang on to their tickets."

The cancellations are not the first on the 50-year-old's world tour with shows at the Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham Academy called off while an appearance on Later… With Jools Holland was also scrapped.

The cancelled Birmingham and Albert Hall shows have now been rescheduled as part of a small October tour, it was announced last week.

Original tickets for the rescheduled dates remain valid.

The full October dates are:

Friday October 23rd - Birmingham Symphony Hall (rescheduled)
Saturday October 24th - Swindon Oasis
Monday October 26th - Bournemouth Opera House
Tuesday October 27th - London Royal Albert Hall (rescheduled)
Thursday October 29th - O2 Academy Leeds
Friday October 30th - Sheffield City Hall
