Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie are not heading for divorce, according to the singer's spokesperson.

Tabloid newspapers had recently been rife with speculation that the couple were living separate lives and were near to a separation.

However, the Like a Virgin star's spokesperson Liz Rosenberg has issued a statement to deny the rumours after the Sun newspaper published a story entitled 'Madge's marriage hangs by a thread'.

"I am delighted to confirm that Mr and Mrs Guy Ritchie remain happily married," she confirmed.

"Though they were in different countries recently - Madonna in the US doing promotion for her upcoming album Hard Candy and Guy finishing up post production on his new film RocknRolla as well as completing a Nike commercial and working on several scripts in England - the family are joyfully back together at home in London."

Snatch director Ritchie's father John had fuelled the speculation by telling Closer magazine the couple were "not spending any time together".

"Guy is very busy over here in England, and didn't make it to her film premiere last week," he added.

"He spends his weekends in the countryside and the rest of the time in London."

But Rosenberg's statement appears to quell any rumours that the pair - who have been married for seven years - are nearing a split.

"All is well and wonderful in the Ritchie household," she said.

Madonna, 50, and Ritchie, 43, are parents to 11-year-old Lourdes, seven-year-old Rocco and are in the process of finalising the adoption of two-year-old David.
