inthenews.co.uk's Muriel Taing enjoys an ecstatic performance from the chart-friendly trio.
Scouting for Girls rocked the south London venue with one of their greatest performances, a truly amped-up show that went hand in hand with their poppy style. Brixton Academy elicited a Greek palace atmosphere and the illusion of an outdoor evening concert with its black ceiling overlooking leaves that hugged pillars.
Their introduction began with a James Bond 007 theme song and countdown that was immediately followed with their song, I Wish I Was James Bond. With a set of catchy songs, lots of jumping, and blaring speakers, the performance kicked off to an electrifying start.
Lead singer and keyboardist, Roy Stride, surprised the audience when he disappeared from the stage midway into one of their acts and paid a visit to those sitting in the balcony. This stunt really pumped up the crowd as they felt personally acknowledged by the band.
I think there was some truth when Scouting for Girls mentioned the crowd made the show. The audience was absolutely vibrant and pleasing to any artist as people knew the lyrics to all of their songs and were more than happy to sing along for every song performed. The band was definitely ecstatic whenever the crowd 'helped' them with their lyrics.
Demonstrating a sense of humbleness, the band dedicated one of their final songs to the crowd thanking them for their support and singing about how they would be nothing without their fans.
After getting feedback from their audience for a final song, the threepiece had no 'choice' but to end the set with their hit song She's So Lovely. The audience in the balcony and in the stalls literally rocked the venue as they jumped up and down to the beat of the music.
