Chalk Farm Road's Roundhouse was filled with a mixed crowd for a rock-themed show with the likes of Rise Against and Anti Flag.
Before these two acts came out to play their headlining sets, a unique group of six known as Flobots delivered their message to an eager crowd.
The group brings forth a brand of music with a heavy political rooting, immersed with rock, hip-hop, and classical influences. The sound is certainly a unique one, but it is quite questionable to see if this genre could be accepted by a wider audience.
There was a good energy throughout the 45-minute set and the crowd reacted with the throws of moshing, raised fists, and general agreement with the messages that Flobots delivered.
Perhaps the most exciting bit about this band is the introduction of an electric violin, which gives the songs an increasingly individual slant and shows that blending such a vast collection of genres can prove to be successful.
Flobots concluded with their radio-friendly single Handlebars, which received the strongest reception from the crowd of all the songs that were played. There is certainly passion and there is certainly energy and stage presence, but if you do not like to mix your music with your politics, this band will not be for you.
