Leona Lewis' cover of Snow Patrol's Run has become the fastest-selling digital download ever.
The single was downloaded 69,244 times in just two days, meaning the X Factor winner is almost certain to secure her third number one.
The cover had never been intended as a single and was included on a deluxe version of Lewis' album Spirit as an incentive for fans to purchase the re-release.
Lewis first performed the song - originally a number five hit for Snow Patrol - on Jo Whiley's Live Lounge show with the Radio 1 DJ labelling her voice "phenomenal".
But after her live performance of the song on The X Factor prompted thousands of calls - and pressure from a national newspaper - for its release as a single, record company bosses bowed to pressure and made the track available as a download.
The current record for the biggest ever digital-only number one is held by Estelle and Kanye West's American Boy, which sold 51,857 copies in a week.
