Jessica Simpson is to cover the song that convinced her that she had to let ex-husband Nick Lachey go.
While listening to Patti Smith's Let Him Fly with her sister Ashlee, Jessica "cried like a baby" and realised that everything was over with Lachey, she told MTV.
"In a lot of ways, my sister really gave me the strength to pull through this really hard time," she said. "It was just lying there and being with her that got me through it. I knew everything would be ok."
She added: "The song is about how sometimes you just have to know when to let something go. And that was that moment. I had to sing it."
Other tracks on the album, of which Let Him Fly will be the last, include her latest single, A Public Affair. Although many people assumed the song was about Lachey, Jessica denied that this was the case.
"It's about me going out with my girlfriends and forgetting everything that's around me, which is paparazzi, and just having a fun night," she said.
Jessica is also considering making her cover of Dead or Alive's 80s hit You Spin Me Round her second single, although she fears that it may be 'too clubby' for her usual fans.
"It reminds me of that Waiting for Tonight Jennifer Lopez track that everyone embraced," Jessica explained.
While Jess is busy with her music, it seems that ex-husband Lachey has been equally busy in his love life.
After dating sexy MTV host Vanessa Minnillo for the past two months, a source told Us weekly that he has been raving about how she is a "guy's girl" who enjoys playing darts and chilling - something girl's girl Jessica would shudder at.
