Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has confirmed that Jay-Z will definitely play this year's festival.

Recent reports had claimed that the US rapper was planning on pulling out of his headline slot and Prince was being lined up to replace him.

However, Emily, daughter of Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis, told the Mirror newspaper that the reports were untrue.

"I spoke to his production people yesterday and everyone is gung-ho and totally upbeat about Jay's appearance here. Obviously, there's been a lot of hoo-ha about it elsewhere, but the response we've had from the public has been incredible," she said.

"We're just so excited that we're having a legend on the farm and the overwhelming reaction we've had has been really positive, there’s a real buzz.

"But we've been coming up against some underlying ill-feeling from certain quarters that we don't really understand."

She remained defiant that the decision to book Jay-Z was a good one and insisted that when the US star performed his hit single 99 Problems the Glastonbury crowd would "go absolutely mental".

"If we’d just had Radiohead or Coldplay or whatever on again there would have been criticism that we hadn’t moved on," Eavis explained.

Glastonbury festival is due to take place between June 27th to 29th at the Eavis' Worthy Farm in Somerset.
