The Jackson family's lawyer has denied claims by former child star Mark Lester that he may be the father of Michael Jackson's daughter Paris.
Lester, who shot to stardom in the lead role in Oliver!, was a close friend of the late singer and is the godfather of Paris and her brothers Prince, 12, and Prince Michael II, the seven-year-old better known as Blanket.
Lester had claimed over the weekend he had donated sperm to Michael Jackson and was willing to take a paternity test to discover if he is related to Paris, after noticing physical similarities between the 11-year-old and his own 15-year-old daughter.
But Brian Oxman, speaking on behalf of the Jackson family, said he was confident the Thriller star was Paris' biological father.
"The thing I always heard from Michael was that Michael was the father of these children, and I believe Michael," he said on GMTV in Los Angeles.
"Mark Lester is a friend of mine - he is a straight shooter. I think what Mark said is what he understands - he was told these things. That's what Michael wanted it to be. But Michael always told me he was the papa."
He added: "I think that Michael was the dad, but Mark sure tells it straight. Mark is a man of his word... he was the godfather of these children. But I have to go with Michael because Michael told me he was the dad."
Of donating sperm to the self-styled King of Pop, Lester had been quoted by the News of the World as saying: "It was a gift to him, no money was paid, it was something I was honoured to do. He wanted children so badly."
He continued: "I do feel a definite bonding with Paris and I think there's a definite possibility that she's part of me."
