The V Festival kicked off yesterday with artists ranging from electronic pioneers The Chemical Brothers to Pop Idol winner Will Young at the event's two sites at Hylands Park in Chelmsford, Essex, and Weston Park, Staffordshire.
Forecast rain held off at the Chelmsford site throughout the day and the sun regularly poked through the clouds to add to the feel-good atmosphere.
Rock band Muse topped the bill at Hylands Park and The Verve headlined Weston Park, but the entire line-up swaps venues overnight.
A total of 150,000 people are expected at the event, which will also feature music from Duffy and Kaiser Chiefs.
Lenny Kravitz, Maximo Park, the Charlatans, The Hoosiers and Alanis Morissette are also on the bill at the festival, which is now in its 13th year.
On Wednesday, headliners The Verve denied reports they were set to pull out of their V Festival slot.
The announcement followed claims that guitarist Nick McCabe was suffering from exhaustion after the band's recent appearance at the Summer Sonic festival in Japan
