Slipknot have pulled out of this weekend's Reading and Leeds festivals after drummer Joey Jordison broke his ankle.

The band issued a statement today stating that it was with "huge disappointment and regret" that they had been forced to cancel their imminent European appearances.

The band were also due to appear at Austria's 2 Days A Week festival (August 28th) and Germany's Area 4 festival (August 29th).

In the statement the band said that Jordison had been advised to rest for four to six weeks following his injury.
