The Chelmsford leg of this year's V festival concluded with the odd shower or two, but the crowd continued to lap up the Killers' hit-packed set.
Playing an opening sequence of tracks from their latest album Sam's Town, the Las Vegas band played what is likely to be one of their last UK shows this year.
Despite lacking the fireworks of Glastonbury, Brandon Flowers and co put on a stunning opening, with Nevada-style images flashing to the opening chords of Sam's Town.
In the JJB Arena it was the Stooges - and their frontman Iggy Pop - who attracted the most attention.
Putting on the most outrageous set at this year's V, the Stooges played a number of classic tracks such as No Fun, I Wanna Be Your Dog and Funhouse.
Pop also jumped into the crowd, scaled a stage pillar and poured about seven bottles of water over his head before teasing the crowd with some ad-hoc stripping.
Meanwhile at the Staffordshire site US rockers Foo Fighters concluded the event with a special guest.
None other than Virginia Hammond Grohl, frontman Dave Grohl's mother, joined her son on stage while his band played out their hits.
Saturday's action was notable for a fantastic set from Primal Scream, with the veteran group playing a mix of hits and recent songs.
Frontman Bobby Gillespie also introduced a new track as well as dedicating a "slow song" to record boss Tony Wilson, who died last weekend of cancer.
Babyshambles also exceeded expectations by turning up on stage five minutes early for their Channel 4 stage set.
However, the traffic ruined their streak of good timing, meaning that in their second performance at the Staffordshire site the group were forced to headline at a later time.
