Sun comes out for Bestival

Friday, 05 Sep 2008 16:06
Sun finally begins to shine on Bestival in the Isle of Wight for the last major festival of the summer
The sun is finally shining on Bestival, the last major festival of the summer.

Earlier, more than 30,000 festivalgoers awoke to high winds and torrential rain at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight.

"The weather is abysmal," inthenews.co.uk's Lewis Bazley said on Friday morning. "It's muddy underfoot and tents are clinging to the ground.

"This year's Bestival is on course to become the wettest festival of 2008."

But by the afternoon the weather, and the mood of the attendees, had improved.

"It's proper weather," festivalgoer Sara Beirne told inthenews.co.uk.

The Met Office has forecast heavy rain across most of the UK today, but the picture should improve over the weekend.

Bands on today's programme include Foals, CSS and My Bloody Valentine.
