Embattled Babyshambles front man Pete Doherty has come up with an explanation to the shocking pictures revealed by a national newspaper last week.
The singer was questioned by police, yet again, after the published photos showed him allegedly injecting heroin into an unconscious girl.
However, the pictures have now been dubbed as a PR stunt after Doherty revealed that he has been compiling a series of blood paintings, which he is planning to showcase and sell at a London gallery.
The pictures, made with both by his own, and others' blood will sell for around £1,000 each. He claims the 'unconscious girl', Laura McEvoy, was donating her blood to his work.
His literary publicist, who has also donated his own blood to the works, spoke about the blood paintings.
"I picked these pictures up at his flat in Hackney," said Paul Roundhill. "Blood paintings are something he has done for a long time. I think they help explaining the photograph of Laura. It shows he does blood paintings."
Roundhill complemented Doherty's method of using blood for the portraits, saying that Pete "has become very good at using the syringe".
