Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty was released from court this morning after facing charges of breaching his bail conditions.

The 28-year-old singer was held overnight in custody after being arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning on suspicion of drug possession.

However, after appearing at West London magistrates court he was then released and driven away in a car after arriving in the back of a police van.

According to media reports, a legal technicality regarding the length of time between his charge and court appearence meant that all charges against him were dropped.

His arrest came just hours after appearing at the V festival in Staffordshire with the rest of his band.

Doherty was told in a court appearance earlier this month that he will face jail unless he commits to quitting drugs.

The musician pleaded guilty to earlier charges of possession of crack cocaine, heroin and ketamine and a driving offence.

His sentencing was deferred to September and he was bailed to an address outside of London.

Babyshambles have a busy month ahead of them, despite Doherty's ongoing problems.

Their new single Delivery is released next month, while their second album Shotter's Nation is scheduled for release on October 1st.
