Kurt Cobain, the late legendary Nirvana frontman, has been named the greatest rock hero of all time by a new NME poll.
Cobain topped a list of 20 all-time greats, proving his legacy is still very much alive among rock fans today.
The troubled Pete Doherty was a surprise second in the list despite being labelled by NME itself as "a worn-out drug addict".
The former Libertines and current Babyshambles lead singer has been in and out of court this year for a series of drug offences and has been somewhat lucky to have avoided a jail sentence.
But this has clearly made him a rock idol to thousands of fans who voted in their droves for him for this poll.
Irish rocker Morrissey came third in the poll, Oasis badboy Liam Gallagher came in fourth and Doherty's former Libertines band-mate Carl Barat rounded off the top five.
