US rockers Bon Jovi have confirmed that their proposed summer Wembley curtain-raiser gigs will now be held in Milton Keynes.
And they will be joined at the Milton Keynes Bowl by reforming boyband Take That, who will be moving their June 24th and 25th shows to the Buckinghamshire venue after it was confirmed that Wembley stadium will not be completed on schedule.
Ageing rockers Rolling Stones will also be moving camp, having confirmed that the August 20th and 22nd gigs planned for the north-west London stadium will now be held at Twickenham.
It comes as the Football Association also confirmed that no football matches will take place at its traditional home of football until 2007, after the construction of the 90,000-seater stadium was hit by numerous setbacks.
Bon Jovi have rocked the Bowl before and commenting on the switch to their June 10th and 11th concerts, lead singer Jon Bon Jovi attempted to put a positive light on the debacle.
"Having closed the original Wembley stadium, it would have been a fitting honour to open the new one," the American singer said.
"However, the most important element was always the live concerts themselves. So while the location may have changed, the celebration will remain the same. Thank you to our fans - for your loyalty and your patience. We'll see you for two great nights of rock 'n' roll at Milton Keynes."
The rockers' Have a Nice Day tour, their first in three years, also sees them visit Glasgow, Manchester, Coventry and Southampton, as well as venues in Germany, Ireland and Holland.
Tickets for the Wembley gigs will automatically be valid at Milton Keynes.
An announcement on former Take That singer Robbie Williams' September Wembley gigs is expected later today.
The Australian firm behind the stadium's construction, Multiplex, announced last night that it was still hopeful of "substantial completion" by June but that it was nevertheless extending the contract completion date "until at least September 2006".
