A dodgy relationship with Kate Moss and an even dodgier relationship with drugs led many to predict that Pete Doherty's musical career was down in the dumps - before he signed a seven-figure record deal, of course.
The Babyshambles frontman has sealed a deal of the profitable kind with record label Parlophone, according to media reports.
First of all will come an EP, to be released later this year, before a series of albums will be made for Parlophone - the label who nursed the Beatles to international fame and fortune.
"He's over the moon because The Beatles were with Parlophone. That means a lot to him," a source close to the band said of the 27-year-old.
Having a £1,000,000 record deal in the bag probably can't help either.
So it's just a case of getting through the small matter of a sentencing for possessing drugs next month and continuing to maintain his fascination with Kate Moss - enough to keep any sweaty, pale-faced rocker from Hexham busy for a while.
