Grammy-winning singer Amy Winehouse is in denial over her drug addiction and is in desperate need of help, her parents have said.
In an interview with ITV News, the Back to Black star's parents Mitch and Janis expressed concern over their daughter's wellbeing as footage emerged of her seemingly under the influence of alcohol while in the Caribbean.
Winehouse has been staying on the island of St Lucia for much of this year and has seen a "remarkable recovery", said her father, but is regularly drinking heavily.
And the 25-year-old's mother told interviewer Daphne Barak the soul star is in "denial all the time" over her addictive behaviour.
"She probably feels trapped, her body is trapping her," said Mrs Winehouse.
"But I know with addiction you do not have the choice because the substance itself directs you."
"The need to rescue her is enormous. I just want her to be okay and I would do whatever it took to make that right."
In an interview to be broadcast on Wednesday, the Rehab chanteuse is seen drunkenly attempting to play the drums while staying in St Lucia.
Mr Winehouse said he wants his daughter to be a "whole person again".
"I tried it all - I said, 'Amy you've got to do this, you've got to go to this doctor, you've got to do this, you've got to do that, you're killing me, you're killing your mum'. None of it worked," he added.
Though he said he hoped for a "gradual recovery" for his daughter, Mr Winehouse admitted the prospect of his daughter reuniting with her estranged husband Blake Fielder-Civil was "too horrible to contemplate".
"They are going to get divorced and who knows what's going to happen down the line," he continued.
"Amy and Blake have decided that they want to get on with their lives separately, and if they get back together again in the future and they're both clean and they still love each other, that's up to them."
