House actress Olivia Wilde is in negotiations to join Daniel Craig in upcoming adventure Cowboys and Aliens.
The Jon Favreau film, based on Fred Van Lente and Andrew Foley's graphic novel, tells of a battle in the Old West Apache Indians and western settlers, including gunslinger Jake Johnson (Craig), which is disrupted by the crash landing of an alien spaceship near Silver City, Arizona.
Wilde, soon to be seen in sci-fi sequel Tron Legacy, is in talks to play a character called Ella
who joins Johnson in the fight against the alien invaders.
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are producing, having co-written the script with Damon Lindelof, with Dreamworks keen to begin production this year in line for a 2011 release.
Robert Downey Jr had been set to play sharpshooter Johnson but was forced to withdraw last month due to a scheduling conflict, most likely with the planned Sherlock Holmes sequel.
