Oscar nominee Dennis Hopper is being "pressured by his advisors and adult children" into filing for divorce, according to his wife.
The Easy Rider star, who is suffering from prostate cancer filed for divorce from his wife of 14 years Victoria Reilly earlier this month, citing "irreconcilable differences".
Hopper, 73, was quoted as saying: "I wish Victoria the best, but only want to spend these difficult days surrounded by my children and close friends."
But Ms Reilly, with whom Hopper has a six-year-old daughter, alleged in court documents that Hopper's family are attempting to cut her out of her husband's will.
"I believe that the filing of the present dissolution action is a result of estate planning by other family members," she said in documents filed in Los Angeles.
While Hopper is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the couple's daughter Galen, Ms Reilly, 42, is seeking full custody of the child.
She added her husband's declining health meant he is not capable of "taking care of himself or his legal and financial affairs" and is unable to make "sound decisions in the best interests of our daughter."
Ms Reilly has petitioned a judge to allow Hopper supervised visits with Galen of up to an hour per day but asked that he refrain from taking "medicinal marijuana and other non-prescription drugs" for at least six hours before the visits.
Hopper, who also appeared in Apocalypse Now, Blue Velvet, True Romance and Speed, has three children from his four previous marriages.
He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September.
