Steven Spielberg's First World War epic War Horse has topped the UK box office during its opening weekend.
The adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's novel took £3.94 million over its first few days of release, more than double the amount from second placed Margaret Thatcher biopic The Iron Lady, according to news reports.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows came in at third place during its fifth week of screening, while Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol saw its reign at the top of charts come to an abrupt end, falling three places into fourth.
The second most impressive new entry to the charts was The Darkest Hour, which took sixth spot, while silent French movie This Artist - which recently won a Golden Globe - rose one place into seventh.
It was recently nominated for no fewer than 12 Baftas, including best picture, best director and, somewhat ironically, best sound.
