Stunning Sienna Miller has revealed she has received a series of vicious threats from Islamic extremists after agreeing to star in the remake of Theo Van Gogh's Submission.
But the 24-year-old New York-born actress, star of Layer Cake and Alfie, has insisted she will not be bullied out of featuring in the film and has been helped to shrug off the threats by her co-star Steve Buscemi.
Her defiant vow has been commended, particularly seeing as Dutch director Van Gogh was infamously shot and killed in 2004 by an Islamic extremist in connection with his film Submission: Part I, which was screened on Dutch television in August of that year.
A source close to the actress told the Daily Star: "Sienna refuses to give into these threats. The people behind them represent everything she abhors.
"The film hasn't got anything to do with Islam but because it's being made as a tribute to Theo, the Islamic fundamentalists have hit the roof."
The insider added: "She was scared to begin with. But her co-star Steve has been receiving similar letters, so they've been supporting each other and laughing about it."
