Silent French movie The Artist was the big winner at this year's Golden Globes, taking home three prizes.
The Black and white film, which is tipped to land a number of Oscars, won best comedy and also took gongs for lead actor Jean Djuardin and for its score.
Other awards on the night went to Meryl Streep for her performance as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady and George Clooney, who was awarded the best actor award for his role in The Descendents.
Michelle Williams, who also took a lead actor award for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn, thanked the Globes for "putting in my hand the same award you put in Marilyn's hand more than 50 years ago".
Streep thanked "everyone in England who let me come over there and trample over their history".
Michel Hazanavicius' work recently took four prizes at this year's Critics' Choice Awards, as the silent movie scooped prizes for best picture, best score and best costume design.
