The Artist takes Producers prize

The Artist has continued with its amazing success at award ceremonies, taking the top prize at a recent event.

Thomas Langmann received the prize for his work on the silent film at the Producers Guild Awards in Los Angeles last night (January 22nd).

Michel Hazanavicius' movie, which is shot in black-and-white, took three Golden Globes last week, including best film and best director, and looks set to fare well at this year's Oscars.

"When Michel Hazanavicius and I dreamed of making The Artist, we knew we were dreaming of writing a love letter to American cinema," Langmann said in his acceptance speech.

He added that the pair never knew that, in return, they would get "a taste of the American Dream".

Other prizes on the night went to Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin, which took the award for best-produced animated film, while best-produced documentary went to Beats, Rhymes and Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest".
