A plane carrying California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was forced to make an emergency landing after smoke was discovered in the cockpit.
The Terminator star's spokesman Aaron McLear said the private jet's pilot had noted smoke emerging from an instrument panel in the cockpit and diverted from the planned landing at Santa Monica to make a "quick and steep" landing at Van Nuys airport in Los Angeles.
"Upon landing the governor exited the jet and travelled to his house," Mr McLear added.
He added that the crew had done an "outstanding job" and that "everyone aboard landed safely and unharmed".
Though the jet was met by fire crews after making the impromptu landing at Van Nuys airport, there were no flames as the aircraft touched down and no-one on board was injured.
The actor-turned-politician was so at ease during the emergency landing that he quickly logged onto microblogging site Twitter to post an update about the aerial mishap.
"A little adventure just now when my plane made an emergency landing. All's ok, though," the former film star wrote.
The governor, who was on his way to Santa Monica after making a speech in Mendota, California, about the recent drought in the state, also posted a picture of the jet after its unexpected landing.
