Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp has labelled his co-star and rock 'n' roll legend Keith Richards 'a God'.
The actor, who portrays the swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow in the latest Pirates movie, said he began calling the Rolling Stones guitarist 'two-take Richards' due to his professionalism on set.
Speaking to GMTV, Depp said: "He was a real gent. Not only a gent and a diamond, but super-professional and incredibly prepared. He was so good that I actually started calling him 'two-take Richards'. That was what he averaged - two takes a shot."
But it seems such was Depp's admiration for Richards, he wasn't prepared to try to master the legend's own discipline.
"I would never have the audacity to pick up an instrument in front of him," Depp said.
"The closest I came was having a drink in his trailer after work and he showed me this mandolin thing and handed it to me and I played a couple of cords and then handed it back. Couldn't go further than that. He's a God."
The Fear and Loathing star was in London to promote what looks set to be the final chapter of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and commented that England was like a home for him and his family.
"I've always had a great time over here and really good experiences. For my kiddies it's been like a third home in a sense," Depp added.
Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End opens at cinemas on Thursday.
