Meryl Streep and George Clooney are set to lead the charge as this year's Oscar nominations are set to be unveiled.
The two are favourites to be nominated in the best actress and best actor categories, with silent French film The Artist and family drama The Descendents expected to be among the frontrunners for best picture.
Other films predicted to be in the list are Martin Scorsese's Hugo, civil rights drama The Help and Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris.
The 84th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 26th February at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, with Billy Crystal once again set to host.
Due to a change in the voting system, the best picture category could contain anything between five and ten films, with new rules banning members from attending parties organised by film companies after the nominations are announced.
Michel Havanicius' The Artist recently won three Golden Globes, including best picture.
