Dan Brown could be set for yet more global success after plans to take another of his hit novels to the big screen were revealed.
Columbia Pictures has reportedly agreed a deal to adapt the prequel to Brown's smash hit book The Da Vinci Code, the film version of which opened in UK cinemas on Friday.
Called Angels and Demons, the novel is the first introduction of Da Vinci hero the Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon and is based around the Vatican.
It is thought that the studio has already enlisted the Oscar-winning Akiva Goldman for the project, the screenwriter behind the script for The Da Vinci Code.
However, a spokesperson for the studio confirmed that neither Tom Hanks, who played Langdon, nor director Ron Howard are yet on board although they will be given first refusal.
Despite being panned by critics, the popularity of the bestselling Da Vinci novel pushed the celluloid version to takings of around £120 million worldwide over its first weekend.
Controversy surrounding its storyline is ongoing, with various Christian religious groups objecting to the book's key suggestion that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had a child with her.
