Actor Corey Haim died this week as a result of pulmonary congestion, his mother has claimed in an interview.
The official cause of the former teen star's death has not been confirmed publicly but Judy Haim told Access Hollywood she had been contacted by the Los Angeles coroner regarding her son's passing at just 38 years old.
Haim was found dead at his Burbank apartment this week after what was thought to have been an accidental drug overdose.
His mother claimed an autopsy revealed the License to Drive star had an enlarged heart and water in his lungs.
In response to Ms Haim's remarks, Los Angeles chief coroner Craig Harvey told People: "There is no final cause of death at this time."
"The final cause of death has been deferred pending additional tests that have been ordered," he added.
The actor's former fiancée Tiffany Shepis told People the Lost Boys actor had struggled with heart problems, worsened by his drug abuse.
"Every time he would go to a doctor they'd tell him he had really bad arrhythmia, probably due to clogged arteries," she explained.
"They all said he should have it taken care of. But, being from Canada, his insurance was there, so he never went and got it done."
"His problem was with prescription drugs - painkillers and Valium," she added. "His addictions are common knowledge. And the longer [you] are addicted to something, the harder it is for you to quit. And that's what he was facing."
Haim's co-star and long-time friend Corey Feldman this week paid an emotional tribute to the late actor, describing him as a "wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul".
