Cameron Douglas, the son of Oscar winner Michael Douglas, has admitted to selling large amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine.
The 31-year-old was arrested at a New York City hotel in July last year and could face a ten-year prison sentence if convicted.
Cameron Douglas, who appeared alongside his father and grandfather Kirk in 2003 comedy It Runs in the Family, also pleaded guilty to possession of heroin, with the Class A substance allegedly discovered after his girlfriend attempted to smuggle him the drug within an electric toothbrush while he was under house arrest.
Speaking in a New York court on Wednesday, Cameron Douglas told US district judge Ronald Ellis he had began "supplying [methamphetamine and cocaine] on a regular basis" after being asked about the narcotics in 2006.
Asked if he was aware that what he was engaged in was wrong, Cameron Douglas answered: "Yes, your honour."
Prosecutors said he had signed a plea agreement though no further details were given.
Nicolas DeFeis, his lawyer, was quoted by the AFP news agency as saying: "I think he handled it well under the circumstances."
After their son's arrest last year, Michael Douglas and his ex-wife Diandra said they were "devastated and very disappointed in Cameron's recent behaviour".
A statement added: "Any family who has dealt with substance abuse knows how devastating it can be."
