Oscar organisers have dismissed a leaked list containing the names of winners of Hollywood's top prize as a fake.
The list, which contains the academy's letterhead and a signature claimed to be of Academy president Sid Ganis, has been circulating online since yesterday.
If the list is to be believed, Slumdog Millionaire's British director Danny Boyle would take the best director and best picture prizes and Kate Winslet would bag the best actress award.
According to the leaked list, American actors Mickey Rourke and Amy Adams will pick up the best actor and best supporting actress gongs while the late Heath Ledger is in line for the best supporting actor prize.
Academy spokeswoman Leslie Unger said the document was a "complete fraud" stating that auditors PricewaterhouseCoopers were counting the votes cast by academy members at the time of the leaking of the document.
"There are only two people there who will know the complete list of winners in advance of the envelopes being opened during the ceremony," said Ms Unger.
She added that the Academy's president was never made aware of the winners of the prestigious award in advance.
Kate Winslet and Danny Boyle are Britain's top hopes for prizes at the star-studded ceremony.
