Jack Nicholson has expressed his dismay at not being approached to reprise his iconic role as The Joker in the upcoming Batman film.
Nicholson, who defined the character with his unforgettable performance in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman movie, said he's angry at being snubbed for Christopher Nolan's new tale of the Caped Crusader.
Talking to MTV, the Oscar-winner said: "I'm furious. They never asked me about a sequel with The Joker. I know how to do that! Nobody ever asked me.
"It's like, in any area, you can't believe the reasons things do or don't happen. Not asking me how to do the sequel is that kind of thing. Maybe it's not a mistake. Maybe it was the right thing, but to be candid, I'm furious."
Nicholson added: "The Joker comes from my childhood. That's how I got involved with it in the first place. It's a part I always thought I should play."
Heath Ledger is to interpret the role of the crazed villain in the 2008 film, with Christian Bale back in the Batsuit for the follow-up to 2005's Batman Begins.
