Iraq drama The Hurt Locker looks a good bet for Oscar glory after being awarded the best feature prize at the Producers Guild of America (PGA) awards.
The Kathryn Bigelow film, which tells of a bomb disposal squad in Baghdad after the 2003 invasion of Iraq, claimed the producer of the year award at the PGAs ahead of nine competitors.
Golden Globe winner Avatar was one of the ten films shortlisted for the award, as well as George Clooney comedy drama Up In The Air, British film An Education, Pixar animation Up and sci-fi adventure Star Trek.
The PGAs ceremony at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles saw repeat success for 30 Rock, Mad Men and Grey Gardens in the television categories, after the three had been rewarded at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards.
The Hurt Locker had lost out to Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds at the SAGs, and missed out on best feature and best director prizes at this month's Golden Globes ceremony to Avatar.
But with the PGA's best feature winner going on to claim the best picture Oscar in 13 of the last 20 years - including in 2009 for Slumdog Millionaire - Bigelow and her team can be increasingly hopeful of recognition from the Academy.
As well as the TV awards, and a best animation win for Up, the PGAs also saw Pixar founder John Lasseter given a special achievement award while Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly creator Joss Whedon received the Vanguard award.
