Hollywood star Bruce Willis is suing a paparazzi photographer who accused the Die Hard actor of attacking him outside a Los Angeles restaurant.
Willis, 51, denies Anthony Goodrichs claims that he pushed a camera into his face while entering Koi in west Hollywood last week.
The actors lawyer, Martin D Singer, said he merely held his hands in front of his face to avoid being blinded by camera flashes.
Willis is suing the photographer for $1 million (£540,000) for damaging his "reputation and standing in the community".
The Armageddon star believes he has suffered "shame, mortification, hurt feelings, embarrassment, humiliation and damage to the value of [his] name, likeness and goodwill", according to the legal action.
The lawsuit comes days after Goodrich told celebrity website TZ.com that he was left with a chipped tooth and a nose injury after trying to take a picture of Willis.
He also said he had filed a complaint to police although a police spokesman said "he had no knowledge of the incident".
Willis' lawyer said "exceedingly minimal and inadvertent" contact had been made and the star was "very upset" over the story.
The legal action was filed in Beverley Hills superior court while Willis was in Mexico promoting his latest film Over the Hedge.
