Dozens of horror flicks made by Britain's famous Hammer studios are set to be restored for release on Blu-Ray.

More than 30 of the films, which include Dracula and The Curse Of Frankenstein, will be remastered, with several gaining new or extended scenes that were cut from the original release.

Hammer was established in 1934 and soon became a household name, being synonymous with the horror genre in the 1950s.

After lying untouched since the 1980s, the company, along with its back catalogue, were bought by a consortium in 2007. The firm recently started producing new films, including Let Me In and The Woman In Black.

The company is also asking for assistance from members of the public in tracking down lost material and deleted scenes.

London-born film-maker Terence Fisher was one of Hammer's most successful directors, creating films such as The Revenge of Frankenstein and The Man Who Could Cheat Death.
