Veteran Hollywood actor Harrison Ford has insisted that he feels "fit to continue" playing big screen hero Indiana Jones.
Speaking at the Rome Film Festival, the 64-year-old actor said he could "bring the same physical action" to the role in the fourth Indiana Jones movie which has been in the pipeline for more than ten years.
According to reports, the fourth film in the action series has been plagued by a number of production disputes, including disagreements over the script between George Lucas, co-writer and executive producer on the first three Indiana Jones films, and Steven Spielberg who directed the trilogy.
In June of this year, Lucas confirmed that the fourth movie would be released in the summer of 2008, amid hopes that filming will begin early next year.
Details of the movie have yet to be revealed, but Ford told a press conference that former James Bond star Sean Connery might return to play Indiana Jones' father.
Speaking of the Scottish actor, with whom he starred in the 1989 Indiana Jones film, The Last Crusade, Ford said: "He's part of the emotional fabric of these films. I believe that Sean is still willing and I'd be delighted if he joined us."
However Connery, also attending the Rome Film Festival, indicated that he had received no offer to appear in a subsequent film.
The complete Indiana Jones trilogy, comprising of The Last Crusade, Raiders of The Lost Ark (1981) and the Temple of Doom (1984) received a total of seven Academy Award nominations.
