Veteran actress Jane Fonda has warned Lindsay Lohan that she needs to stop her partying ways or she risks getting burnt out.
Lohan is arguably now more famous for her well-publicised social and love lives than for her acting ability, and Fonda believes that she could blow her acting career if she doesn't slow down.
Her comments follow criticism from James G Robinson, the CEO of Morgan Creek Production, which produced Lohan's latest film Georgia Rule.
In a letter berating the actress in July, he said: "We are well aware that your ongoing all-night, heavy partying is the real reason for your so-called exhaustion."
Fonda, who also stars in Georgia Rule, agreed with the warning, telling Access Hollywood: "I think every once in a while, a very, very young person who is burning both ends of the candle needs to have somebody say, 'You know, you're going to pay the piper, you better slow down'. So I think it was good."
But the 68-year-old actress also said that she felt sorry for Lohan and empathised with how hard it must be for her growing up in the Hollywood spotlight.
"I want to say to her, 'This is not a dress rehearsal. This is it. If you blow it, you don't get a second chance'," she said.
"I just want to take her in my arms and hold her until she becomes grown-up. She's so young and she's so alone out there in the world in terms of structure and, you know, people to nurture her. And she's so talented."
